With 2019 coming in hot and 2018 coming to a close, I thought that it would be a good idea to take some time to reflect and set goals for this next upcoming year. I typically prefer to keep my blog posts short and to the point, but I thought it would be nice to open up a little and hopefully help ya’ll get to know me a bit better. Pretty basic stuff, but it’s not the New Year’s resolution that matters. What matters are the steps you take to turn these dreams into goals and these goals into reality. There is no set path or secret that works best for everyone, but this year I want my path to lead to either money or the mall (…just kidding *insert cheesy statement about happiness instead*). These are the things I plan to do throughout 2019 to get myself one step closer to my goals.
Those who know me well, know that I am the definition of a perfectionist. Because of that, I often compare myself and other parts of my life to others. I have officially decided: no more of that teenage BULL CRAP in 2019. This year I will be diving head first into all things ME. Sounds a little selfish, I know, but done is better than perfect & comparison is the root of self-doubt. When you become so focused on growing & improving yourself, you don’t have any time left to worry about anyone else. So that is exactly what I will be doing from now on.
Next up on the list, is to take the time to maintain my emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental health. I absolutely love the hustle and bustle of a busy schedule. It makes me feel productive and prevents me from getting stir crazy, so I always have to be doing something. However, my love for a busy schedule can prevent me from taking care of myself. Wow surprise surprise. A New Year’s resolution to dedicate time to oneself. Ground breaking. I know it’s not really original, but then again, who said New Year ‘s resolutions need to be creative? At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: to be healthy, happy, and rich (and you’re lying to yourself if you disagree).
How exactly do I plan on dedicating time for myself ? Well the “plan” is to …
- Drag my lazy butt to the gym 3 times a week (physical)
- Make an attempt to finish 2 self-improvement books (mental)
- Make a list at least 1X week of all the things that I am grateful for (spiritual)
- Treat myself more often (emotional)
That’s right. I just made a resolution to spoil myself. That means buying the shoes, eating the pizza, and putting on as many Korean face masks that my little heart desires. Did I mention buying shoes?
Whether they be personal or professional goals, I tried to pick goals that I can actually see myself keeping throughout the year. I hope to make 2019 a year full of joy and growth, and I will be sharing it with ya’ll every step of the way. Let me know in the comments sections down below what your New Year’s resolutions are and if you have any tips on how to keep yourself accountable throughout 2019. Who knows maybe I’ll feel inspired and add yours onto my list ;).
